On 21 November to 02 December 2022, CONFER conducted its annual foundational climate prediction workshop at ICPAC offices in Nairobi, Kenya.
The intensive two-week in-person and online training brought together 10 new National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) forecasters from 10 countries in the East Africa region.
The workshop focused on foundational seasonal prediction science, dynamical ensemble prediction systems and their performance evaluation, and training on the suite of General Circulation Models (GCMs) post-processing tools available to regional NMHSs via the ICPAC High Performance Computing (HPC).
The training is one of CONFER’s positive contributions, indirectly reaching 365 million people in the Greater Horn of Africa region.
