The intense and prolonged drought that has hit the Horn of Africa in the last three years has highlighted once again the fundamental importance of climate services, most notably rainfall forecasts. In this report, CONFER scientists explore ways to improve the accuracy of monthly and seasonal probabilistic rainfall predictions.
They also assess the quality and the effectiveness of feedback mechanisms and communication channels with one overall objective: empowering users in their interpretation and application of probabilistic rainfall forecasts.
